Anything else you want mentioned in the profile? Advice for grade 12s, fav thing about SYDE, etc?

Waterloo isn’t the end all be all.

Don’t get trapped in your bubble of friends that you make in the first week, reach out to new people!

The calc quizzes are a lot easier than the final.

Actually attend class lol.

Whatever rumour you hear about UW is exaggerated. SYDE is the perfect balance between work and fun.

SYDE kids have great job flexibility.

My advice to grade 12's is to grind as hard as you can until mid terms, then just enjoy the last two months they have available. As for making it into the program, make sure you talk about why Waterloo Engineering is what you want, not just why you want engineering as a whole.

Definitely get a mentor and talk to upper years, they will probably be way cooler than the ppl in your cohort.

Love how everyone is so willing to help one another. Play basketball with people in your program, it's lit.

Have fun and make sure to take it at your pace. Also everyone is confused too so dw.

Just be yourself on the first day. Pick SYDE, best choice you’ll ever make.

If you're reading this in grade 12 and considering SYDE, do your research, contact former and current students (they're lovely, I swear) or do an EngChat, prepare yourself for co-op, and understand that this program, like your entire college experience, is what you will make of it. You will get what you put into it. Work hard (it always pays off), be kind to others and yourself, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
